Aroma-Zone: a sustainable supply chain serving performance and the planet
A sustainable supply chain can become a true strategic lever, combining logistics performance, customer satisfaction, and ecological transition.
With a strong ambition to ship 4 million parcels by 2025, Aroma-Zone, the French leader in natural and DIY skincare, is strengthening its logistics to support its growth whilst respecting the environment. For nearly ten years, the brand has relied on our Boa Concept intelligent automation solutions to build an agile, high-performing and sustainable supply chain. This partnership demonstrates how efficiency and responsibility can go hand in hand.
A trusted collaboration supporting growth
Since 2016, the Boa and Aroma-Zone teams have been working together to develop a sustainable supply chain capable of supporting the brand’s rapid growth. The logistics site at Châteauneuf-de-Gadagne (Vaucluse), initially manual, has undergone several phases of automation to keep pace with the growth in activity.
Laurent Lucasson, Operations Director, recalls:
Today, Aroma-Zone ships over 3 million parcels a year through its e-commerce channels and 27 physical shops.
With Boa Concept, Aroma-Zone has gradually rolled out automation solutions (automatic launching machines, modular conveyors, sorting systems and connected management software), while doubling its shipping capacity. Every stage of the transformation was designed to remain agile and respond to growth without compromising service quality.
Automated processes serving the customer experience
Supply chain automation at Aroma-Zone goes beyond logistical efficiency. It also helps to deliver an impeccable customer experience.
✔️ Automated machines optimise the packing and height of parcels, cutting out unnecessary volume and saving on transport costs. ✔️ Parcels are weighed and checked to ensure compliance and minimise errors. ✔️ Personalised documents are added automatically to each parcel, reinforcing closeness with customers.
Thanks to these innovations, Aroma-Zone has succeeded in reducing parcel height to as little as 2 cm, increasing truck loading capacity by 30%. This is a key advantage for a sustainable supply chain, as it reduces the number of journeys and the associated carbon footprint.
The foundations of eco-responsible logistics at Aroma-Zone
Responsible logistics implemented by Aroma-Zone is built on fundamental choices. CSR commitment is at the heart of this partnership:
✔️ Responsible automation: reducing repetitive actions, improving working conditions, use of modular and reusable systems.
✔️ Optimising transport flows: reducing parcel volumes, better managing truck fill rates.
✔️ Eco-friendly sourcing: use of parcels without over-packaging, recycled paper, and plant-based inks.
✔️ Control of energy consumption: low-consumption conveyors, quiet equipment with presence detection, logistics site powered 100% by green energy.
✔️ Energy self-consumption project: a target of 50% independence through a local hydroelectric initiative in partnership with ADEME.
This holistic approach enables Aroma-Zone to balance operational performance and environmental commitment throughout its supply chain.
A logistics organisation that values people and the environment
Automation and modernisation of the supply chain have not taken Aroma-Zone away from its human values. The company ensures its teams remain at the heart of operations, fostering high value-added roles and supporting employees through change management.
Laurent Lucasson emphasises:
A tangible impact on customer satisfaction
This sustainable commitment and logistics control are felt by customers. With an NPS above 70, Aroma-Zone has one of the highest satisfaction rates in its sector.
A supply chain on the move: greater agility and stronger commitments
Aroma-Zone is actively pursuing the development of its agile and sustainable supply chain:
✔️ Continuing the automation of picking processes.
✔️ Integration of artificial intelligence to adjust flows in real time.
✔️ considering the optimisation of picking locations for even greater fluidity.
At every stage of its development, for almost ten years, Boa Concept has met the requirements for performance, personalisation and reliability, supporting Aroma-Zone in its drive for operational excellence, continuous innovation and environmental responsibility. This partnership perfectly demonstrates how a sustainable supply chain can become a powerful lever for improving customer satisfaction, optimising logistics costs and reducing environmental impact.
