Warehouse Automation: Ekoï Dominates the Cycling Market and Aims for the Lead
Ekoï, a French leader in cycling equipment, has taken a significant step towards operational efficiency by automating its brand-new warehouse in Puget-sur-Argens (France). Spanning 3,200 m², this state-of-the-art logistics center is designed to meet annual double-digit growth, driven by the rise in online sales and the growing passion for cycling.
A Strategic Partnership for the Future
To bring this ambitious vision to life, Ekoï partnered with Matilog, an experienced logistics solutions integrator, to deploy a full BOA Concept solution. This strategic decision allows Ekoï to enhance its ability to quickly and efficiently ship its 800 sports product references, of which 65% are destined for the international market.
Pietro Cicoria, Operations Director at Ekoï, explains: “We chose to move to this new warehouse to improve customer satisfaction, respond to our rapid growth, and optimize the comfort of our logistics teams while securing our inventory.”
Advanced Technology for Agile Automation
BOA Concept stands out for its scalable and flexible technology, perfectly suited to the dynamic needs of growing companies like Ekoï.
Stéphane Bulliod, CEO of Matilog, attests to the effectiveness of the chosen solutions: “BOA Concept systems are easy to install and reliable in the long term. They support Ekoï’s continuous growth and offer essential scalability for the future.”
The BOA Concept conveyor system directs received parcels to the storage area, where RFID tag reading on items streamlines the process and secures inventory management. This approach significantly reduces errors and stock shortages, ensuring immediate availability of products on the webshop.
For outbound flows, bins containing products are routed to an order validation area. The RFID technology, combined with the BOA Drive WCS supervisor, simplifies operators’ work, reducing preparation errors and ensuring final customer satisfaction. Once orders are consolidated in the seven stations, they are sent to the shipping area to be sorted by carrier.
Tangible Results and Enhanced Efficiency
Since its opening last April, the automated warehouse has already generated a remarkable 30% increase in productivity compared to Ekoï’s previous logistics processes. Additionally, operators have improved their working comfort, reducing their daily travel from 30 km to just 4 to 5 km on average during peak periods.
Thanks to this strategic initiative, Ekoï is firmly positioning itself at the forefront of cycling product distribution, ready to meet future growth challenges with agility and efficiency. The automation of their new warehouse not only optimizes their internal operations but also strengthens their ability to serve customers worldwide quickly and reliably.
