Boa Concept et Motoblouz : la logistique au plus haut niveau !
“Racing is life. Anything that happened before or after, it’s just waiting » said Steve McQueen in one of his most famous movies” (Le Mans 1971). But the “King of the Cool” played mainly to finance his true passion: racing. Each pilot will recognize his seasoned speech: “It will never be fast enough! “.
When you order a part in your garage, you all have a tendency to imagine the long journey that it must take before being delivered. In-itself, all this is very unattractive. On the Motoblouz e-commerce site, things are thinked differently. Thanks to Boa Concept, Motoblouz has found the solution for its warehouse which now integrates smart modular conveyors. Why is this good news? You will have even faster the good package delivered directly to you!
Indeed, before discovering and visiting the Motoblouz warehouse, we also thought that a delivery is slow and sometimes tedious! However, our opinion has completely changed thanks to the ingenuity of the entire logistics process of the brand. The order-picking needs of Motoblouz are indeed impressive and complex at the same time. Motoblouz was created in 2004 and reach a turnover of 38,3 million euros in 2016. Meanwhile, the company from the Lille region (France) is the market leader in the distribution of motorcycle equipment and motorcycle accessories. In practice, it is 1,050 orders per day, that is to say approximately 1,500 parcels that leave daily from the new distribution center. Regarding customer, there are over 800,000 motorcyclists including many motocross and endurance drivers. In total, Motoblouz alone satisfies not less than 30% of all French motorcyclists.
Internet of Things (IOT)
Traditionally, conveyors are everything excepted models of speed and flexibility, They are very often heavy, rigid and above all used to carry loads of an identical weight from point A to point B. At the forefront of high-tech will you tell me? Not really ! But even here the digital revolution has made its appearance under a trendy term already well known to the general public: the IOT (Internet Of Things). To illustrate our example, the Yamaha YZ450F 2018 is now equipped with a Wi-Fi connection so that everyone can observe the performance of the engine thanks to its smartphone application but also know the style of driving, the nature of the track and the conditions weather … Yes, this is a perfect example of the Internet of Things. The set of technological developments that happened during the last decade, notably in the motorcycle world, would have been seen as science fiction in the 1960s or 1970s. What follows is also an unimaginable breakthrough, but this time in terms of logistics.
Modular and smart
Boa Concept know-how lies in the development of smart modular conveyor systems called “Plug-and-Carry” designed for the preparation of retail orders and to be perfectly adaptable to a changing environment. There are number of concrete examples :
– The way of ordering a product : directly and online. Closed, orders by Fax or phone.
– Delivery speed : Consumers and businesses are no longer willing to wait weeks for their orders.
– Traceability of products throughout the production and transport chain. When we buy a product, we would like to know where it comes from and where it is delivered.
When mechanical meets artificial intelligence
The definition of these modular conveyors could be synonymous with high technology. The “Plug-and-Carry” system is in fact 100% electric. The modular conveyor is certified without pneumatic control and is efficient and operates only when a load is detected, which proves to be very economical in terms of energy consumption and wear. In short, Boa Concept’s know-how is to have provided its conveyors with an artificial intelligence. All of their modules from 1 to 3 meters are equipped with an electronic card allowing them to exchange information between them. Moreover, taking into account factors such as total pallet capacity, circuit topology and package type (small envelopes or heavy loads) allows the “supervisor” to search for the best path for carrying the command. In practice, that means :
– Parcels management through barcode or RFID reading.
– Real-time communication between modules.
– Customizing the entire system with different types of modules : injectors, diverting modules, curves…
– Adapting the trajectory of the line quickly and cost-effectively.
– Less machine maintenance
In practice :
Everything is new at the Motoblouz warehouse, which is not surprising since the distribution center of 6,000 m2 became operational at the end of 2016. The first impression on arrival is that the environment is very clean and quiet. Little noise is not synonymous with a lack of activity. On the contrary, here everyone works damn hard! Many highly motivated young employees make it a point of honor to process orders as quickly and efficiently as possible. The employees of the store are also paid to the good results of the company, which clearly contributes to an unfailing motivation. Thanks to this collaboration with Boa Concept, Motoblouz is sure to count on quality materials.
Finally, it is not only on a motorcycle track that you can go fast, with the tandem Motoblouz / Boa Concept, deliveries are flying at full speed!
